Our objective is to perform
computer simulations to determine and analyze the effects that the addition
of a wind farm will have on PREPA’s system operating conditions. We will
use detailed data of PREPA’s system and industry grade computer simulation
tools to determine the system dynamic response in the presence of eolic
generation.
We will study two types of
disturbances:
-
The stability of the electric
grid and the wind farm when submitted to electrical disturbances such as:
-
three-phase fault at buses near
the wind farm
-
disconnection of the wind farm
from the system
-
disconnection of large units
from the system
-
The stability of the system when
the wind farm is submitted to feasible wind gusts.
The analysis will be carried
out for two different locations of the wind farm. Among the parameters
to be analyzed are the voltage, electrical power and frequency at different
buses of the system.
