XI ISTEC GENERAL ASSEMBLY

XI Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Consortium (ISTEC) General Assembly

ISTEC is a non-profit organization comprised of educational, research and industrial institutions throughout the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula. The Consortium has been established to foster science, engineering and technology education; to carry out joint international research and development projects among its members; and to become a cost-effective vehicle for the transfer and application of technology.

ISTEC was founded in 1990 with 12 universities, one multinational industry and two international organizations. Currently, ISTEC is formed by 17 universities, and 4 industries. ISTEC has also collaborated in the creation and enhancement of 8 laboratories within member universities. Additionally, there are 44 institutions participating in the Liblink initiative. The XI ISTEC General Assembly will be hosted by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, on December 5, 6 and 7, 2001. For more information visit the ISTEC General Assembly Meetings website.

The hospitable city of Mayagüez is third in size in Puerto Rico and is located in a beautiful tourist area, 25 minutes by airplane, or 2 hours and a half by car through a magnificent highway from San Juan.
